Spiritual Climate of Jamaica

Jamaica’s constitution provides for freedom of religion. Christians make up the majority of the population, but their influence is minimal. The country is plagued with a morass of social and economic problems, such as violence and drugs that appear insoluble. The Rastafarians, who espouse spiritism, Black Power and Black consciousness, have considerable influence. The spiritual temperature of Jamaica affects the whole Caribbean.
