Spiritual Climate of Gabon

Gabon is one of Africa's wealthier nations, yet many Gabonese continue to dwell in poverty. The majority of the population was baptized Catholic, but a large number still follow the old animist ways. Animism's influence in both Christianity and Islam extends far beyond its statistical presence. Evangelicals increased from 2.3% in 1960 to 12.7% in 2010, showing that evangelical growth in Gabon has been steady and sustained. The Church is also maturing in Gabon.
