Taiwan allows freedom of religion, though the majority of the population follows a blend of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Christian growth resumed slowly in the 1990s after a period of stagnation, but Taiwan remains the only major Han Chinese population where the spiritual breakthrough has yet to come.
