Ethiopia
Spiritual Climate of Ethiopia
North Ethiopia was one of the first Christian nations. In the 1970s and 1980s the Marxist regime persecuted Christians, but since 1991 there has been religious freedom. Hostilities with Eritrea have crippled efforts to modernize the country. Repression, famines, wars and deep poverty have traumatized many. Syncretims and the occult are widespread among many nominal Orthodox.
